1. Manual workflows
  2. Create Documentation

This is the manual version of the flow. If you are using Claude Code or Codex, start with Agent-First Onboarding and ask the agent to create the docs for you.

Use this flow when a user asks: “Create a new documentation for this project in Docsalot.”

Step 1: Authenticate

docsalot auth whoami --json

If not logged in, run Install and Authenticate.

Step 2: Create documentation

docsalot docs init --name "My Project Docs" --out docsalot-docs

Optional flags:

docsalot docs init --name "My Project Docs" --subdomain my-project-docs --team-id <team-id> --out docsalot-docs

Step 3: Verify local scaffold

Expected result:

  • A local folder (for example docsalot-docs/)
  • Starter files you can edit immediately

Step 4: Confirm documentation identity

docsalot docs list --json

Save the documentation-id for push/publish commands.

If docs init is unavailable in your installed version

  1. Create a documentation project in the Docsalot dashboard.
  2. Pull it locally:
docsalot docs pull --documentation-id <documentation-id> --out docsalot-docs
