1. Improve Dev Experience
  2. Docsalot CLI

docsalot is the official CLI for docsalot.dev. It brings Docsalot dashboard workflows directly into your terminal so you can integrate docs operations into local development and CI pipelines.

It supports the full docs lifecycle:

  • Log in locally in your browser (no token required)
  • List your documentations
  • Pull docs into local files
  • Push updates as new versions
  • Publish versions
  • Preview docs locally
  • Install the Docsalot CLI skill for your coding agent

We are actively developing this CLI, and it is currently used by at least 20 agents.

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 20+
  • npm
  • A Docsalot account with access to a team/documentation

Install

npm install -g docsalot-cli
docsalot --version

Getting Started

1

Log in from terminal

docsalot auth login
docsalot auth whoami --json

The CLI prints a URL. Open it in your browser and, after approval, the CLI logs you in automatically. For CI, use token login via stdin:

echo "$DOCSALOT_API_TOKEN" | docsalot auth login --from-stdin
2

Install coding-agent skill

docsalot skills install

The CLI detects your coding agent and installs the Docsalot skill in the correct skills directory.

3

List your documentations

docsalot docs list

Copy the documentation-id you want to work with.

4

Pull docs to local files

docsalot docs pull --documentation-id <documentation-id> --out docsalot-docs
5

Push a new version after edits

docsalot docs push --documentation-id <documentation-id> --dir docsalot-docs --message "Update docs"
6

Publish the new version

docsalot docs publish --documentation-id <documentation-id>
7

Preview locally while editing

docsalot docs preview --dir docsalot-docs --port 3000

Notes

  • docs list is the easiest way to get your documentation-id.
  • docs publish without --version publishes the latest version.
  • Keep API tokens private and treat them like passwords when using CI/token-based auth.
